On the Streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma

I know you all have been patiently waiting to hear how my Momma goes Solo in Tulsa trip was…well it was FABULOUS!  Can I say it louder, can I scream I wanna go, can I tell you how much fun I had in Tulsa, Oklahoma…..and I am going to add how affordable Tulsa can be for the perfect get-away.

I can definitely say Tulsa is a unique to many of the big cities that I have visited, and yes folks I found that southern hospitality that I love.  From the local sub shop, to hotel desk clerk, to the security guard at the BOK, smiling faces, helpful hints for the city, and people excited that I had hit the streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I must confess the MOST exciting thing I got to do was see Lady Antebellum at the BOK.  Not only 2-thumbs up to the BOK for having an amazing performance hall (it is beautiful), but 2-thumbs up to Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker, and Thompson Square for putting on an AMAZING show!  If they are in a city near you, this show is worth the $$$$, one of the best music performances I have seen.  If you are in Tulsa and have not seen a show at the BOK, then WHY NOT, this performance center is perfectly laid out, so that no matter where you are sitting you have an amazing view!

Now since I have gushed over my exciting night at the BOK, what else did I do while I was in Tulsa, YIKES, I was so busy, but had so much fun!  Tulsa should be known at the Art Town, because they have some great art.  My simple words cannot do them justice, but I guess I will try…forgive me art lovers, for I am just a simple girl that likes pretty things.

On Friday morning, I had the opportunity Philbrook Museum of Art….I know I was supposed to be there to appreciate Art, and I did, but I was in awww at the elegant building.  Philbrook Museum is an Italian Renaissance villa sitting on 23 acres in the middle of Tulsa, the elegant building was built by the Phillips family in the late 1920’s.

Inside the beautiful building; cannot hardly call it a home with 72 –rooms; you will find one of America’s finest art museum.  African art, Native American Art, Asian Art, Modern and Contemporary Art, and many more collections.  On the outsides, you must take stroll through their lavish gardens, and enjoy the beautiful sculptures, and gaze at the pond.
If someone were to ask me where to go on a date in the city of Tulsa, Philbrook Museum of Art would be one of my suggestions!  Inside you will also find a full service restaurant with an open view to the beautiful gardens.

After dragging my dear friend and myself from the beautiful Philbrook Mansion, we landed our feet and another magnificent museum inside Tulsa Oklahoma…the Thomas Gilcrease Museum.  Tulsa friends, you are some lucky folks to have these beautiful places for you to visit regularly.  I have already gushed over Gilcrease, and declared Gilcrease would be the perfect Valentine’s Day date, and it is no lie….this place is beautiful.  Gilcrease also earns that perfect date inside of Tulsa rating….gentlemen, you are missing perfect opportunities, take this advice from a woman!

Now I am sure you are asking with all this adventuring where in the world did this woman find relaxation…well, no other place than the Holiday Inn Tulsa City Center!  Once again Holiday Inn earns my two-thumbs up, but not because it was beautifully decorated (and it was), not because it was perfectly located (and it was), but because it fit all my need!  Thank You Holiday Inn for having not only an amazing pool, hot tub, but also an amazing fitness center for me to enjoy each morning.  That is another story all together, but routine is major factor in keeping my life organized!

There are a few other stop offs that I made while in Tulsa like the Center of the Universe, I visited a local bowling alley to catch up with some of my Oklahoma family, and scoped out a few of the amazing parks.  I knew the moment I departed that I had missed so much, like the Tulsa Zoo, the Oklahoma Aquarium, and the Tulsa Air and Space Museum.

My final stop in Tulsa, Oklahoma had to be the Baker Street Pub and Grill, and while the food is good, the beer is smooth, and staff is friendly….I will leave you with watch out for the bathrooms they are a bit tricky to find!

Have an Adventurous Day!
